The questions you actually have at 9pm

Grouped by what is worrying you, not by nutrient. Every answer names where it comes from: 10 sources across 15 answers, all of them official Italian or European guidance.

Getting started

When to begin, and what the first weeks actually look like.

What is allowed, and what is not

The rules worth knowing before you cook, and the ones that surprise people.

Allergens

Introducing them early and one at a time - and why delay is not the safe option.

Textures and lumps

Moving off smooth purée, and telling gagging apart from choking.

When she refuses to eat

The most common worry of all, and the one that most often needs patience rather than a fix.

Milk and dairy

Cow's milk, yogurt and cheese - what is gated to 12 months and what is not.

Storing, freezing and reheating

What makes batch cooking safe, which is what makes it worth doing.

Mealtimes

How many meals, and when the evening becomes a real one.

What we deliberately do not answer

Bottle and formula amounts, when to drop the evening bottle, and which yogurt to buy are among the most asked questions in weaning. They are not on this page, and that is deliberate: no Italian authority publishes fixed portions. The Ministero della Salute declines to and defers to your own paediatrician, so there is nothing we could honestly cite. We would rather leave the gap and tell you why than fill it with a number we invented.
